HeHateMe (what the hell is that about?) at Big Sky Democrats is getting awfully excited about Monica Lindeen’s “traction” in the House campaign because she has managed to raise $100,000. It’s a little too early to break out the champagne, given the enormous edge Rehberg has in name recognition, money, and incumbency.
A little bit of success in Montana seems to be going to the heads of the Democrats. We’re a long way from a movement that is more than a momentary anomaly, I think…and hubris certainly isn’t going to help.
Lindeen (and Jon Tester) certainly aren’t going to help their situation by mismanaging the budgeting and politics of the school funding panel. Given the money and influence of the MEA-MFT in Montana politics, quotes like this certainly aren’t reassuring:
Eric Feaver, president of MEA-MFT, the union representing public school teachers, said he’s hearing from legislative staff that it would take months, or maybe years, to figure out accurately how money would flow through a new system.
He also chastised committee Democrats for resisting any detailed discussion about cost and what the state should commit to spending on public schools.
“It seems that the guys who want to spend some money are the Republicans,” he said. “I don’t know what to make of it. I don’t get it.”
