Way to Go, Congress!

The members of the Republican controlled Congress voted themselves a $3,100 annual raise today, the same day that the House voted 217-215 to cut $700 million from the food stamp program. Compassionate conservatism?

Not to the estimated 235,000 people who would lose benefits under the plan.

How did your multimillionaire Represenative vote for you, Montana?

  • Boggles the mind. It’s scary to think that the only solution that the GOP will volunteer for any problem is a tax cut. During the 2000 election, Clinton’s budget surpluses necessitated a tax cut. After the election, the sluggish economy necessitated a tax cut. After 9/11, recovery would only happen with a tax cut. Health care? Tax-free savings accounts. Even after Katrina, Bush proposed a tax cut as part of his reconstruction plan.

I’m still waiting for the tax cut as a solution to the insurgency. Sure that one’s in the works…
