Condoleeza Rice is, at least, good for a few laughs. In an interview with Wolf Blitzer, she claimed that the Bush Administration spying was legitimate because:
the Attorney General, who is, after all, the highest legal authority in the country, has spoken to this. I’m not a lawyer, but I can tell you that from a policy perspective, the problem that had to be solved and that must remain solved is to be able to protect this country by detecting terrorist plots before they materialize.
Is it just me, or is it troubling to think that a Cabinet member lacks basic high school government knowledge? If you want to have a nightmare tonight, imagine John Ashcroft as the ‘highest legal authority in the country’.
And don’t even get me started on the Clinton did it first nonsense. After 5 years, that’s still the best NewsMax and Drudge can do?
