Yeah, But What Did Jesus Think About the WTO?

Wow.

“We think our national boundaries should be respected. That’s a biblical principle also,” said Christian Coalition lobbyist Jim Backlin.

Hmm. I must have a broken Bible.

Hebrews 13:1-3

Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

Malachi 3:5

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts. \

From Deuteronomy 10:18-19

He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Would it be so much ask Christian political leaders to at least pretend to have read the book they throw around so casually? Beyond the specific passages, how anyone could read the New Testament and conclude that barring national borders is a biblical precept that trumps love and care for other humans is incomprehensible.

Cynical, sickening, manipulating liars.

I predict that people will start going head first against the religious right very soon.

They have the right to practice the religion of their choosing, but they do not have the right to control the rest of us.

Beside that, there is a very wide chasm between what they say and what they do.

Yes indeed. I like how they believe that the State ought to enforce biblical law basically. I want America to be America (such as it must be) and now Iran, thank you.

Amen, and A-men.

It’s not their Bible.
