Burns on Spending

Jason already highlighted Conrad’s hypocrisy during the debate last night, but one other quote from the Gazette’s coverage was telling.

“The demand for spending comes from Americans,” Burns said. Responding to a question for specific cuts in the federal budget, Burns said that after entitlement programs, interest on the national debt and military spending, there is only 17 percent of the federal budget spent on discretionary spending. He offered no specific cuts.

Given that Montana’s GOP controlled blogs keeps trying to remind us all that Conrad runs on the issues, one can only assume that he has no plan to cut spending. Based on his ads, that wouldn’t suprise me.
