A couple of days late, but worth noting. Montana’s semi-Republican senator decided that English was threatened enough by the pernicious scourge of immigrants and rogue speakers of Igbo that it needed to be protected:

The measure passed 63-34 with the GOP actually finding eleven Democrats — Baucus (D-MT), Byrd (D-WV), Carper (D-DE), Conrad (D-ND), Dorgan (D-ND), Johnson (D-SD), Landrieu (D-LA), Lincoln (D-AR), Nelson (D-FL), Nelson (D-NE) and Pryor (D-AR) — worried enough about the more cracker-like constituents in their states that they also voted in favor of the dumbest amendment to pass the Senate in some time.

Yeah, I know…Baucus is the lesser of two evils, but how long do we need to have two senators who can reliably be counted on to vote for bills that are heavy on ‘patriotic’ symbolism and light on substance?
