There’s been some discussion from anonymous posters at Left in the West who are concerned about a lack of disclosure on the site. These media critics, who demand accountability behind screen names that hide their identity, are right: we bloggers are often remiss in our duty to explain how our blog work deviates from our professional lives. So, time to disclose.
I am a literature teacher. However, I, in contravention of the attitudes of many people who share my profession:
- Abuse the semicolon
- Find most Hemingway tedious
- Would prefer to teach Arthur Miller than Shakespeare
- Often grade papers in colors other than red
My sincere apologies for not making these thoughts clear from the outset.

YOU … BASTARD!
I am not actually concerned by anyone’s lack of disclosure. Matt Singer offered to tell us what political differences he has with his employer. I mistakenly believed he was sincere. If he didn’t want to do that, he sould not have said he would. I don’t have an axe to grind (on this.) I’m not asking for irrellevant personal information. I just took Matt at his word.
I’m contacting the ASPsCA right now.
(American Society for the Prevention of semiColon Abuse, don’tcha know?)
