An Open Letter to Dell: I Am Thinking About Seeing Someone Else

Dear Dell Corporation,

This letter is hard for me to write. We’ve been together for a long time, since I purchased my first laptop from you six years ago. We’ve been through operating system upgrades, driver incompatibilities, and even an occasional hardware malfunction.
Through it all, I’ve tried to stay loyal to you, but I’m not sure that I can deal with this relationship much longer. You don’t seem to care about me any more; in fact, you seem distant, almost unimaginably foreign, and I can’t understand you any more. You’ve changed.

I called you today because you had recently canceled an order I placed because you decided it was a duplicate order. When I tried to explain to you that if the order was a duplicate, there must be another order somewhere, you hung up on me rather than try to talk it through. That hurt and confused me, though not as badly as your accent, which really limited effective communication. It’s as if the only words you really knew how to say were “Hello, this is Dell” and “I’m sorry,” but I really didn’t believe you either time. Those words sounded rehearsed, and not from the heart.

I knew we weren’t exclusive, Dell, but I was surprised to learn just how many people you’ve disappointed and how many hearts you’ve broken.I don’t want to be like those people, stuck on hold in my relationship forever. It’s time for me to move on.

Sincerely,

Don Pogreba

P.S: I’ve already got my eye on someone else.
