While some (like county attorneys and sheriffs) have questioned the need for Representative Krayton Kern’s Wild West, Rootin’-Tootin Shooting Show gun bill (HB 228), the representative himself has finally offered a compelling reason:

The thicker we can make Montana Code with laws that clarify and solidify our Constitutional rights the more difficult it will be for an oppressive government to send us to a reservation in Oklahoma.

Having driven through Oklahoma, I understand his concern—if nothing else about this foolish bill.

I think what ol’ Krazyton Kerns is referring to is NOT Oklahoma, but rather Bush’s giant Halliburton-constructed dention centers! Yes, they are a bit of a concern. Why we need them is anybody’s guess. And I, like Krayzie, don’t give a rat’s behind what the seriff’s think. I don’t recall too many “sheriff’s” who wrote the Constitution! Maybe some historian can help me out here, by I seriously doubt that law enforcement was foremost in the minds of the framers! What was foremost was a self-governing body of the PEOPLE, of which the coppers are a teensy, tiny part.

This went before the judiciary committee yesterday. Anybody hear what happened? Were there any beheadings?
