If I were ranking the most likely reasons right now, I would go with:

1) legal scandal
2) insanity
3) The Todd's secessionist dreams

I smell (another) Palin scandal brewing. Must be big.

She devoted a whole 5 minutes or more to talking about her indictments for ethics scandals and how the Alaskan taxpayers should have to deal with that – and how her and Todd have over $500,000 in legal bills.

She’s about to go down for something. We don’t know what it is – but I’m betting we’re about to find out.

She's bats**t crazy.

Seriously, listening to her press conference was excruciatingly painful. Even though I've always thought she was an idiot, it was horrid listening to her complete meltdown today, as she breathlessly poured forth rambling incoherence:

"Life is too short to compromise time and resources… it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: "Sit down and shut up", but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out."

Then she quit, because that's what real winners do in PalinLand.

I think something big & bad (ethically/legally) is coming her way like an ice road trucker.
