I’m beginning to wonder when the Montana Republican Party is going to come out against Social Security and Medicare. After all, they certainly seem supportive of the idea that the federal government has no role in health care.
At the latest hyperbolically named “rally” of the curiously lightly employed Montana Tea Party, Montana Republicans were central figures. According to the Independent Record, the Montana Republican Party’s Executive Director Bowen Greenwood issued a media advisory promoting the event and Republican legislative candidates were in attendance.
Can one assume that these candidates agree that Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, not to mention dozens of smaller programs, should all be abolished as unconstitutional, socialistic schemes?
I’d certainly hate to consider the alternative: that Republicans are playing a cynical con game on Montana voters. Did Dennis Rehberg lose his playbook somewhere?

But – FYI – the Tea Partiers are not just Republicans, there are Democrats, and Independents there too.
People are not happy.
The Tea Partiers are simply vocal conservatives, who love their way of life, love their country, and value their freedoms.
Pretty much the opposite of The Great Leader and his Czars.
I saw the story, too, Pogie. Gotta love it when the Republicans pander to the Tea Partiers. Is there nary a moderate left in the Montana GOP?
Eric, sorry old pal. But that was a dumb post. I expect better of you. But since you posted it, would you mind defining for me a few things. WHAT is their “way of life”, and HOW is O’Bama altering that? HOW do you know that they “love their country”, and what does that mean? Do they love East L.A., the Bronx, the ghettos, San Francisco’s gay districts, the Indian reservations? Or do they love just certain parts of “their” country?
And again, what “freedoms” are in jeopardy here? I get so sick of hearing this nonsense. It’s makes about as much sense as Palin’s “real” Americans
talk. I seriously believe that you’re way to intelligent to parrot that nonsense. You used to make some cogent arguments worthy of thought. What happened? Break it down for me, ’cause I’m having a real hard time discerning the Tea Party as anything but a mob, a violent mob at that. I SAW tv footage of the guy with the flag who appeared to be quite insane, jumping around and yelling at the top of his lungs for the AG and the governor to come out. I have never seen anything quite like that in my life. Is THIS the new Republican Party? The GOP is now a MOB? That’s too bad.

I think that Eric is just whisltin’ Dixie! He sho duz miss his “way of life”! You know, when darkies knew their place and didn’t get all uppity by thinkin’ they could run this great, wunnerful country God gave to us white folks! Why, it’s time to revisit that “Northern war of agrression against the South”, as the gov. of W. Virginia is fond of saying! Our younguns is bein’ taught ALL wrong. We need us a nice, old fashioned confederate holiday to explain to’em just how GOOD things was afore we got us a black president. Why, things is all outta wack now.

The tea party's shining star, Marco Rubio, senate candidate in Florida, has admitted his Ayn Rand-inspired America would be one without Social Security and Medicare. At least he's honest — more than I can say for most Republicans.
Of course they don't tell that to their elderly voters.
But then the level of hate on the right does cause them to become hard of hearing.
