Another classy move from Representative Rehberg, who has shown his contempt for firefighters in the past:

A Billings subdivision developed by Montana Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg and managed by his wife, Jan, has filed a lawsuit against the city of Billings and the Billings Fire Department.
Rehberg Ranch LLC contends property and equipment was damaged at Rehberg Ranch Estates because the fire department breached its duty during a wildfire that burned more than 1,100 acres in the subdivision west of Billings Logan International Airport in July of 2008.

It’s heart-warming to see Montana’s preeminent subdivision rancher (one who rails against lawsuits by ordinary citizens seeking to protect their health) suing the City of Billings to line his own pockets.

"The company in court documents filed Friday in Yellowstone County District Court says the fire scorched trees and ground cover causing irreparable damage on a large section of land intended for development."

Wow. Using that logic just about every rural fire department would be sued out of existence. Good thing, too … dang socialist bureaucrats … oh, wait, they're often volunteers. But, of course, Denny and his wife knew that!

The more I read about this, the more it seems some enterprising reporter needs to look into the Rehbergs and their subdivision. From some interesting issues regarding annexation by Billings to some very shady dealings with the subdivision's covenant, the Rehbergs seem like the kind of people I wouldn't want to buy property from.

To sue the city of Billings, even though it saved every structure on the site and invested a week of time ensuring that the fire didn't flare up again, is just incredible.

Well, now we know who wears the pants in the Rehberg family.

Why is it that all these "tort reform" Republicans always latch on to lawyers when they can get a buck?

Reminds me of when Judy Martz got $80,000 out of an airline for a "hard landing."

This should endear him to the taxpayers of Billings! WHAT A SLEAZY CHEESBALL! And BTW, who in the hell is the fire-chasing lawyer who would even take ON a lawsuit like this? Cheesy. So now, our very own congressman Dopey Rehburp is an expert on fire suppression in some of the most difficult terrain imaginable for fighting fires. Gee, isn't that special. Was there no private sector fire protection available?? Why didn't Dopey get together with his dupes, OOPS!, I mean landowners and CREATE their OWN fire dept.?! That Dopey. He luvs him some Gubmint when it's time to sue. Maybe McDonald can point this out in a commercial.

I hope the judge that is assigned to this nuisance lawsuit has the guts to throw it out. After all, the fire was an act of nature. Also, if he is so concerned about the damage that was done to the property, why doesn't he file a claim with his insurance company? Or why was he so stupid not to have insurance on the property to begin with?

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
