How About Some Accurate Headlines?

From the Missoulian this afternoon:

Montana House approves bill to prevent coerced abortions

This is actually a bill that mandates a one-hour wait before a woman is able to receive an abortion, an effort to restrict access. It’s an absolutely misleading headline on a very controversial bill. Had the Republican sponsor truly been interested in protecting patients from coercion, surely he would have mandated a one-hour wait for every procedure, right?

From the Billings Gazette earlier today:

Montana GOP jobs bills clear key hurdles

This story describes one bill that dramatically reduces worker’s compensation benefits and another that will dramatically reduce environmental protection in Montana. Just because the Montana GOP has labeled this initiatives “jobs” bills certainly doesn’t mean that they are.
