Of course, they didn’t offer an apology. Instead, it was the media’s fault:
Eaton wrote that the party launched the challenges in “good faith,” but media reports have since suggested the challenges were an effort to suppress voter turnout.

Initially, I was angry with Jake Eaton and the Montana Republican Party in theory. It was greatly upsetting to learn that the Republican Party in Montana had so little respect for voters that it would actively try to remove them from the rolls, rather than educate them. I would ask Mr. Eaton if the Montana Republican Party’s attempted purge of voting rolls included every Montanan with an address change not reflected in their outdated database. Is it possible that some voters were not challenged?
After all, Mr. Eaton did say the following on September 30:
